About Equestars

Santa Fe Equestars is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing the proven benefits of therapeutic riding and equine-related activities to those with special physical, emotional, and cognitive needs in a safe, enjoyable, and beautiful environment at the Santa Fe Horse Park.

Benefits of Equine- Assisted Therapy:

  • Unique education and therapeutic sporting activity.
  • Encourages a new visual perspective of independence.
  • Builds self-esteem, empathy, and a sense of responsibility through the relationship with the horse.
  • Improves posture, balance, and muscle control because the rhythmic movement of the horse naturally stimulates the way humans walk.
  • Gives riders self-confidence that they take back into their world.

Students of all ages and ability levels learn riding skills and other aspects of horse care. Our goal is for each of our riders to ride to the best of their abilities. We offer lessons year round in our beautiful indoor arena at the Santa Fe Horse Park. You're welcome to drop by and watch a lesson.

Santa Fe Equestars is a NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) member center. Which means that we are in compliance with the standards set forth by NARHA, including using NARHA certified riding instructors at all times.
