Please help Equestars through these sponsors: |
Volunteers are the base of our program. We need literally thousands of volunteer hours a month to keep our program running smoothly. We ask that anyone who would like to become an Equestars volunteer attend a volunteer training. Check the News & Events page for the next scheduled volunteer training or e-mail us to get e-mail notification &/or a phone call reminder to come! Trainings are typically from 10 am to 3pm. We spend time getting to know each other, taking a tour of the barn, office, arena, etc. We review different types of disabilities that our riders live with, how therapeutic riding helps them, volunteer jobs & expectations, we have lunch together while we review the volunteer training manual then after lunch we go up to the barn and learn hands on how to groom & tack the horses, how to properly lead to offer the best benefit to our riders, sidewalking styles & the dreaded emergency dismount, which is always good for a laugh! It's a fun-filled day & you're sure to learn a ton & be able to make the decision if you would like to become part of the Equestars family! We sure hope so! We would love you have you! The main volunteer jobs are those who assist during Equestars lessonsSide-Walkers, walk next to & spot our riders while they're riding,Horse Leaders, lead horses during part or all of our lessons depending on the rider's needs. These volunteers also, assist our riders before & after they mount, finding assigned helmets, tacking or helping independent riders to tack themselves and chatting with our riders!Office Help, answer the phone, organize substitute volunteers, make copies, put together info packets, rider packets, volunteer packets, etc.Pumpkin Festival Volunteers, the first
